Restorative treatments for kids
  • Fillings and crowns for kids restore teeth affected by cavities or damage, helping maintain a healthy smile. Fillings repair small areas of decay, while crowns protect and strengthen more severely damaged teeth. Both treatments are safe, durable, and designed to support your child’s long-term dental health and comfort.

  • Dental extractions are sometimes necessary to remove severely decayed, damaged, or overcrowded teeth. Our gentle, child-friendly approach ensures a safe and comfortable experience. We prioritize your child’s comfort and long-term oral health, making space for proper tooth development and preventing future dental issues.

  • Deep decay can affect the soft center of the tooth called the pulp. A tooth-saving pulpotomy involves removing decay from the pulp chamber, placing filling material in the space left behind, and affixing a crown to the tooth.

  • If your child loses a baby tooth too early because of decay or trauma, we can create a dental bridge to ensure a complete smile.

  • Some children need only local anesthesia to tolerate dental treatment, and others may require the addition of laughing gas to reduce anxiety. Others, however, may need oral conscious sedation because they are more fearful or face physical or mental challenges. We can administer oral conscious sedation during all types of procedures, even when performing a simple dental exam or cleaning children’s teeth.

Restorative Treatments For Teens
  • The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that all children see a dentist sometime between the eruption of the first tooth, which happens around six months of age, and the child’s first birthday.

  • A root canal is a safe and effective procedure that removes infection from inside a tooth, relieving pain and preserving your natural smile. This treatment prevents the need for extraction and restores the tooth’s strength and function.

  • At Smile Sonrisa Dental your braces are done right.

Preventive Care for Teens
  • At Smile Sonrisa Dental & Orthodontics, our dentists emphasize preventive dental care because we would much rather see your child for a routine, stress-free visit than for a series of lengthy procedures.

  • Fluoride treatments provide an extra layer of protection against cavities, strengthening your child’s teeth and preventing decay. This quick, painless, and effective treatment helps keep little smiles healthy and strong.

Oral Surgery
  • The orthodontist may refer you to an oral surgeon to extract your teeth when treating you for orthodontic care to achieve a healthy bite, straight teeth, and attractive smile. They may also perform tooth extraction if you have too many teeth in your mouth, which affects your bite and alignment.

  • A tooth extraction is usually scheduled when a tooth has been severely damaged by an accident or decay and is no longer viable. A surgical tooth extraction is performed when the tooth has not erupted from the gum and the oral surgeon needs to make an incision to pull it out.

  • A dental bone graft is a procedure that restores lost bone in the jaw to support dental implants or prevent further bone deterioration. This treatment helps strengthen the jaw, improve oral health, and create a stable foundation for future restorations.

  • Intravenous, or IV Sedation, is often the patient choice for oral surgery. Medications are administered through a line inserted into the vein. This is also commonly known as “twilight anesthesia”, as it is a depressed level of consciousness, with the ability to respond to verbal commands. Most patients will not remember anything about the procedure that was performed under this type of anesthesia. Supplemental oxygen is delivered through the nose, and the patient’s vital signs are closely monitored during and after the procedure.
